Do you know where you have been? Do you know where you are going? Take the steps to determine where you are right now and where you are going in 2009. Here is the template for conducting your own Board of Directors Meeting.
Ask and Answer where you have been and where you are going. Inventory your:
- Life Purpose and Personal Objectives achievements
- Strategic Objective
- Key Strategic Indicators
- P/L and Balance Sheet
- Strategies for continuing success
- Strategies for improving success
- New business development activities
When completed, create your 2009 plan for fulfilling your Life Purpose and your Strategic Objective.

PRINCIPLE 9:
LEARN WHAT IT TAKES TO CREATE EFFICIENT PROMOTIONS
ACTION STEP: Track and measure the return on all promotional activities.
PURPOSE: Achieve maximum return on the marketing dollar through careful measurement of results.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION: Prior to each promotional activity, identify the following: product, target market, outcome (i.e.: customer numbers, revenue generated, profit yielded), timeframe, promotional concept, key message, and budget.
At the completion of each promotional activity. identify the following: product, promotion, prospects reached, response total, response rate (%), conversion to sales total, conversion to sale rate (%), actual cost of promotion, difference from budget (+/-), revenues generated, and gross profit (or loss). Review your experience of the promotion and record the lesson(s) learned.
RESULT: Achieve maximum return on the marketing dollar through careful measurement of results.

PRINCIPLE 5:
CREATE AN ENVIRONMENT THAT EMBRACES CHANGE
ACTION STEP: Create a key initiatives program.
PURPOSE: Generate continuous and productive change in the company.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION: Select three trusted employees, three trusted customers and three trusted vendors to participate in a questionnaire. Create a brief questionnaire and ask them to provide feedback in the following areas: products or service, customer service, management style, employee training, marketing communications, office environment, and anything else. Complete the questionnaire yourself.
Then, compare your responses to what others are observing in your business. As a result, create a Key Initiates Program. Identify what area of the business needs attention. Identify the outcome and the completion date for those areas requiring attention. Prioritize each action item and enroll your team in executing the tasks. Repeat process for each area the business that needs attention.
RESULT: You will identify and take action on areas of attention requiring change for fulfillment of your Strategic Objective.

PRINCIPLE 7:
BE YOUR VERY BEST ALL THE TIME
ACTION STEP: Learn how you impact others.
PURPOSE: Access the best in you.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION: Ask everyone on your team to complete an anonymous Relational Impact Survey. On a scale of 1-5 (5 being high), have your team members score how you impact each team member in the following categories: Inspiring, Supportive, Clear Communicator, Honest Communicator, Energizing Influence, Calming Influence, Organizing Influence, Listener, Friendly, and Fun. Complete a Relational Impact Survey about yourself.
Collect all the team surveys and determine your average score given to you by your team members. Review your report. Focus on your strengths. Where your scores are lower, ask yourself: what one step could I take to raise the score one point? Then take that step.
RESULT: Move closer to life of balance in all dimensions; mental, physical, social and spiritual.

How did you learn about our coaching services?
I learned about Jeff and his firm’s coaching services through a web search after a small group of Safeguard Distributors wanted to talk to a Certified E-Myth coach. (Several of our group had read Michael Gerber’s Book, The E-Myth Revisited.) We found several people licensed to deliver the Mastery Program as well as some non-E-Myth coaches. We narrowed our search down to a couple of coaches and then arranged for a conference call with each of them. Jeff demonstrated a level of attention and flexibility that we were comfortable with and he showed us that he was comfortable working with a group of distributors. During the conference call process, we found Jeff the easiest to work with as well as the most flexible- he was very willing to adapt to what our group wanted.
What has group coaching been like both on the phone and during onsites?
We have developed a working knowledge of all the core principles of Mastery as it relates to marketing, management, money, lead generation, lead conversion and client fulfillment. We have done this through a series of regularly scheduled bi-weekly phone conversations, combined with onsite meetings twice a year. Once we learned the core concepts, we have been working hard to apply them. This is the challenge and reason we all continue to meet– to apply the proven theory.
I understand you have been in our program for about 3 years. You have been through our Entrepreneur’s Success Code Series and the Mastery Program. What stands out for you personally and professionally?
Well, I think that both work together into a whole. The two are inseparable. We are so linked to our businesses, that in order to have the personal lives that we want it is essential to get control of our businesses. The great thing about the coaching is that we have a consistent set of reference points relative to our goals. Put another way, it keeps us focused on doing the right things, and because we have a basic understanding of the principles, it helps keep us on track- it is a compass for our businesses to keep us headed due north!
The fact that this group has been able to work together has enabled us to get closer to other distributors- we understand where their pain, successes, and challenges are. We have a close relationship with each of our group members and Jeff- it is real unique and very special. Jeff is someone we consider a great friend and terrific coach yet, at the same time, he has expectations and accountabilities that he holds us to- this is a great combination.
As a result of your training and given the state of the economy, what initiatives are you working on to grow your business and offer added value to your customers?
From a personal standpoint and current economic problems, we are consciously trying to learn how to better position ourselves with our best and highest potential customers insuring that we have a long-term relationship with them. However long the economic challenge lasts for us, I am confident that we will find ways to innovate to get close to our top customers. The group interaction and the coaching are very helpful in this process. The more challenging times requires analysis and to see how creative and hardworking you can be- it will be interesting....
Safeguard distributors typically do not have a large market share although we have thousands of customers and literally hundreds of products. Therefore, we have so much market share to gain if we focus on the right areas. The opportunity for all of us to become better leaders during these tough times is crucial. That is all the more reason to implement our Success Code content and execute the lead generation and lead conversion systems that Jeff coaches.
Any other comments or thoughts you’d like to share?
When things are more challenging you have an opportunity to stretch and learn more. It is a real privilege to work with Jeff. He matches terrific experience in working with business owners, great content from both E-Myth and Success Code theory and a personal engagement to keep you accountable to your own goals.
